Gulf of Mexico Collateral

The Gulf of Mexico has one of the largest dead zones in the world. For this project, I did a lot of research and found the main culprit: algal blooms. Algal blooms are caused by runoff mainly from the midwest and farming states. The excess nutrients make their way down the Mississippi river and into the gulf creating breeding grounds for algae, cutting off oxygen to anything below it. My goal was to make the headlines very straight to the point and bold. I also used a lot of layering and rectangles to represent the deconstruction of the Gulf.
